Italjet Conquistador was similar in style to the twin-filler models. Earlier, Jawa supplied 50cc engines for the Tarbo, another Tartarini company. Jawa made a Type 23 Mustang from around 1968 to 1981 using many parts supplied by Italjet but it bore no resemblance to the Italjet Mustang. Tartarini also built the Ossobuco minibike, understood to have been intended for the American market via Clymer. Italjet also built minibikes using Minarelli and Franco Morini Motori engines. Powered machines, of which about half had Venom Thruxton engines. Clymer also had Italjet build some 97 Velocette Clymer died before the project came to fruition and the remaining 200 Enfield engines were sold to Rickman, resulting in the Rickman Interceptors. Around 15 of these quite handsome motorcycles areīelieved to exist. Italjet built limited numbers of motorcycles for Floyd Clymer in the late 1960's utilizing Royal Enfield 750cc engines to be marketed under the Indian banner. Engines were from Franco Morini, Minarelli, Yamaha, MZ of East Germany and two British suppliers. Italjet built a large number of different machines from fairly basic mopeds, very sporty 50 and 60cc machines, mini-bikes, 125cc singles and twins, 350cc two-stroke twins, and 500, 650 and 750cc four-stroke twins. The firm name changed to Italjet in 1967, but the motorcycles had been branded Italjet for some time before that. Early machines employed MZ engines and the logo incorporated the letters MZ. He retired from racing after a serious accident caused spinal damage from which, against the odds, he recovered then in 1958 he and his friend Giorgio Monetti rode around the world on 175T Ducatis. Leopoldo Tartarini, son of Egisto Tartarini, was a highly succesful racer who won the Milan-Taranto withĪ BSA-powered side-car combination which he built, and then won the first Motogiro d'Italia on a Benelli.
